Kevin Ashcroft Bio

Kevin Profile WB 9.png

Kevin has been playing guitar since around the age of 14 and has been in many bands after leaving school  and also taught guitar for a while but once he settled down and had children the guitar was put on the back burner.

Early 2000 Kevin decided to pick up the guitar again and start playing.  Kevin met up again with bass player Pete Taylor who he has known since his teenage days and played in the West Midlands band Millstone Grit ( the other 2 members were vocalist Nigel Self and drummer Paul Cox ).

Kevin also teamed up with drummer Tony 'Stix' Smith and they played gigs around the West Midlands playing a mixture of Kevin's original music and a few covers .  The band also did a mini tour of Hamburg, Germany.

In 2008 A chance meeting with Halesowen Roy Orbison Tribute artist Barry Steel saw Kevin abandon the guitar for a while and play keyboards in a Roy Orbison tribute show touring all over the UK in theatres supported by a Beatles tribute act.

2011 and  Kevin moved on and joined a local covers band specializing in weddings and corporate work and again after a couple of years, Kevin decided to go back to guitar and leave the keys alone.

2016 saw Kevin join the Country Rock band Darcy as lead guitar and musical director and they played venues mainly in the West Midlands but also ventured out further a few times including playing a Country Music Festival at Newark Showground.

2020 - it was during lockdown that Kevin decided to concentrate on recording  and releasing the songs he had written but with guest vocalists and musicians which is being produced under the Andania name.

Kevin is not currently gigging but he hasn't ruled it out in the future but as many of Andania musicians are working musicians in their own right, it would be difficult to gig as Andania. - but never say never.
